Your location lives for 30 days.History exists so you can replay a route — then it’s deleted from our servers automatically, enforced in the database itself.

1. Who we are

FamilySeen (“we”, “us”) provides a location sharing service for families at familyseen.com and app.familyseen.com, and through our mobile applications (together, the “Service”). This policy explains what personal data we process, why, and the choices you have.

2. What we collect

  • Account data. Your email address and display name. Members who join a circle as guests provide only a display name — no email is required to join.
  • Location data. Your device’s location, collected only while your personal “Share my location” switch is turned on. Turning it off stops collection.
  • Battery level. Shown to your circle next to your name, and used for low-battery alerts.
  • Service data. Circles you belong to, places saved in your circles, alerts and pings, and basic technical information needed to operate the Service (device type, app version, authentication tokens).
  • Payment data. If you subscribe, payments are processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We never see or store your full card number.

3. What we don’t collect

We do not collect your contacts, messages, browsing history, or the content of other apps. We do not fingerprint devices. We do not collect location while your sharing switch is off.

4. How your data is used

To show your circle the live map, arrival and departure alerts, SOS alerts, and location history you signed up for; to operate, secure, and improve the Service; and to send you service emails (such as sign-in codes and billing reminders). We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.

5. Who can see your location

Only members of circles you have chosen to share with, and only while your sharing switch is on. Turning it off removes you from their map within seconds; your circle sees an honest “Paused sharing” label. There is no mode that lets anyone view your location without appearing on the same map themselves.

6. How long we keep it

Location history is retained for 30 days and then permanently deleted by an automated job that runs in our database — it is not a settings checkbox. Account and circle data are kept while your account exists. When you delete your account, your personal data is deleted, not archived.

7. Where your data lives

The Service runs on managed cloud infrastructure (Supabase and Cloudflare). Data is encrypted in transit. Access within our team is limited to what is needed to operate the Service.

8. Your choices and rights

  • Pause or resume location sharing at any time — the switch is always yours.
  • Leave any circle, or remove a circle you own.
  • Request a copy of your data, or delete your account entirely, from Settings.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have additional legal rights (such as under the GDPR or CCPA) to access, correct, or erase your data. Write to us and we will honor them.

9. Children

The Service is intended for users aged 13 and over. Younger children should use FamilySeen only within a family circle managed by a parent or guardian.

10. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will notify account holders by email before the changes take effect. The “Last updated” date at the top always reflects the current version.
